So then... we've finished the first batch of ginger beer...
Alas, it wasn't that great, although it didn't end up in the sink - so it wasn't positivly revolting.
The first bottle was distinctly worse than the second bottle - I put this down to it not being left to settle long enough. However, both bottles tasted more of lemon than of ginger (this could have something to do with making 1.5 litres of the stuff but putting enough lemon in for 4.5 litres)... in fact one might not realise there was any ginger present... it was also quite flat - although the cork did make a satisfying "pop" when withdrawn from the bottle...
So, yeah... not that great...
Enter Mk II... hopefully this one has been made with the mistake borne in mind from the first batch. I hope so anyways, as we've doubled the production.
It already smells like ginger beer... which is good... although it was fizzing like a bitch last night... I'm not so sure if there's any fizz left in it though... hopefully more fizz will build up when it's sealed in a bottle later this evening...
I'll keep you posted.
