Today, at work, it was the time of Bo and Joy to show off their greater knowledge of the English langage than me!
How, erm, embarrassing?
I noticed that Bo has a magical English Dial-a-Verb thing on her desk. She decided that it would be mighty fun to test Ed on some English irregular verbs!
The wheel works by selecting the infinitive on the outside and the holes in the middle of the dial reveal what the simple past tense, the past participle and the present participle for that verb.
Most of them are quite easy (once you've worked out what the hell the past participle is) - even if you think you've done badly because the person testing you can't pronounce the answers... anyways... some of them aren't and you get shown up by the people testing you... (the one without the answers...)
What's the past participle of 'lay'? and more importantly, when was the last time you used it? I have to admit... I had no idea... and I've never used it - probably because I'm meant to use it but don't...
