I can't stand martyrs1, they piss me off royally. It doesn't make me feel sympathetic or remorseful at all, it just makes you look silly. However, the house does keep tidying itself, keep up the good work. Oh, and you don't have to wash up the cooking things... we'll do them, but then I suppose you doing them adds to your martyrdom and means you can say something like "suck my dick, because I washed up last week". We ain't making you do it...
Hmmm... maybe I should be more confrontational with people on a one to one basis...?
1There is only one kind of martyr who actually really pisses me off. This is the egotistical one, who's willing to suffer because they are standing up for their belief that they are great and the world owes them something... and suffering for their cause is the only way they think people will give them the respect they think they deserve. Out of all the martyrs like this that I've met, I've found that this rarely works and instead has everyone going 'Ha ha, it's not going to work' behind their backs...
